Did you know that the products you use on your skin are actually absorbed into your body?  It makes sense when you think about it, but not too many people actually do.  Alarmingly, many skincare and personal care products on the market today contain toxins and other harmful chemicals.  This should be a concern for everyone, but is especially something a pregnant or breastfeeding mother needs to be aware of.

When I became pregnant with my first daughter, I began educating myself on the ingredients found in the products I was using, and started making changes to my daily routine.  I am happy to report that along the way, I've discovered many companies committed to creating products that are safe for consumers and the environment.  Recently, I discovered a new grouping of products to add to my skin-care arsenal, and I'm very excited to share a bit about them with you today.

True Botanicals is a company that prides itself on creating luxury skincare that works, and is as safe as it is effective. Their Basics line is packed with vitamins and minerals, and is 100% safe for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. They even challenge you to bring their ingredients list with you to your next doctor's visit!

Here are a few of my favorite products from their Basics line:

Most face mists on the market today contain water as a base. True Botanicals uses a
mix of green & white teas for an antioxidant boost that leaves your skin feeling extra hydrated.

Instead of traditional facial creams, True Botanicals offers hydrating oils and serums for deeper penetration into the skin. Their products are formulated to nourish, moisturize and prevent aging - all at the same time! The serum is also loaded with ingredients that help prevent free radical damage.

My current True Botanicals line-up is shown above. (please note: I opted for the "CLEAR" cleanser which is not recommended for pregnant mothers. If you are not pregnant and are currently struggling with acne, I would highly recommend this cleanser. Otherwise, you would want to select the "BASICS" cleanser or one of the amazing cleansers offered by True Botanicals.)

Just look at that pretty packaging! The design is simple & minimal, which I love, but more importantly, the dark glass bottles work to protect the active ingredients, ensuring they remain potent and effective.

I always have such a hard time deciding between products, but this part was actually a breeze (& quite fun!) thanks to the skincare quiz provided below.
